Community Health Programs has named Marina Barahona, practice manager at CHP Great Barrington Health Center, as its 2021 employee of the year.

Marina joined CHP in 2014 as a receptionist. In 2019 she was named practice manager, and now oversees operations at the Great Barrington location. The practice has 30 employees.

“Marina is constantly asking, ‘who are we serving and how can we serve them better?’ said Lia Spiliotes, CHP’s chief executive officer. “She keeps this spirit so strong at our Great Barrington practice.”

The award recognizes an employee who exemplifies CHP’s commitment to excellence in health care, equal access to care for all, and workplace collaboration. Marina brings teamwork, compassion and dedication to her work, and because she rose through the ranks in the practice, is well versed in all aspects of the CHP practice operations.

“Marina is a compassionate person and a devoted leader always taking the time to support her staff and patients needs,” said Zelma Cortez, human resources administrator and former lead receptionist. “She looks at the bigger picture to ensure the practice runs well and is always looking for ways to improve. If there is an obstacle she meets it head on and doesn’t give up until she finds a solution. She is someone I respect and admire.”
