Community Health Programs has named Erik Bruun of Great Barrington to its board and Brian Drake has been elected board president.
A Berkshire resident since 1984, Bruun is president of JPC Capital. He is also the owner-operator of the SoCo Creamery ice cream shop and factory in Great Barrington.
He is board president of the Berkshire Waldorf School in Great Barrington. He also serves on the board of Railroad Street Youth Project, of which he was the founding board president. He is past president of both the Community Development Corporation of the Southern Berkshire and Housatonic River Restoration Inc. And in the 1990s, he was on CHP’s board for two years when it was known as Children’s Health Program. He has been a freelance writer and is author of several books.
A graduate of Trinity College, Bruun was a reporter for The Berkshire Eagle for five years and later established the South County edition of the former Advocate weekly newspaper. He also served as staff director of the Massachusetts Committee of State Administration in the State Legislature. As freelance writer, he has published several books. He has three children, Elizabeth, Andrew and Rebecca.
Brian Drake, most recently vice president of the CHP board, has been elected president. He is senior vice president of group benefits at MountainOne and earned his M.B.A. at University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Williamstown with his family.
Board member Rick Gregg of Lenox has been elected board vice president. He is a distinguished instructor of healthcare administration at Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School in Boston, where he has also served as director of programs in healthcare administration. He is also a past director and CEO of the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Gregg holds an M.B.A. from New York University and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science from Rutgers University.
Allyson Holmes remains as board secretary. She is a partner at the Pittsfield law firm of Smith, Green & Holmes, specializing on estate planning, elder law and real estate. She is a graduate of Williams College and Suffolk University School of Law. She resides in Pittsfield.
Chuck Leach remains in his role as board treasurer. He is president and CEO of Lee Bank, and previously worked for Berkshire Bank and TDBank throughout New York and New England. He earned his M.B.A from Claremont Graduate University’s School of Management, and he earned his bachelor’s degree in government at Colby College. He is a resident of Lee.
