Family Support and Kindergarten Readiness Programming

Community Health Programs has received significant support for family services and kindergarten readiness programming from state and local funders. The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care provides CHP with funding to support educational playgroups and home visiting literacy programming. The Berkshire United Way also provides support to home visiting programs as well as care coordination programs for pediatric patients and their families. Recently CHP has found creative ways to adjust programming to keep families and staff safe while following state and local mandates. This includes increased use of video and remote technologies, socially distanced and no contact access to educational materials, enhanced referral supports, and increased use of outdoor spaces. Thanks to funders including the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and Berkshire United Way, CHP has been able to maintain free access to these critically needed family and community supports for local children and families.

MA Department of Early Education and Care $80,875 for FY21 CFCE and PC+ programs

Berkshire United Way   $50,000 ($25K per program) for PC+ program and Care Coordination at Pediatrics program

COVID-19 response

Recently, CHP was awarded grants from numerous partners including Fallon Health, MassHeath Flexible Services, Direct Relief COVID-19 Response Fund for Community Health, Berkshire United Way, Berkshire Taconic Community Health, Northern Berkshire United Way and Williamstown Chest COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. Funds from these grants are being used toward the emergency response efforts needed in order to provide care to local residents.

Community Health Programs has been on the frontlines of the coronavirus outbreak in Berkshire County. Significant shifts in how we provide care to reach and serve as many patients as possible has been necessary. Whether caring for patients using telemedicine, drive-by care, and mobile health units, CHP has pivoted quickly to alternative methods of providing care. Additionally, CHP has significantly expanded our food relief programs in response to emerging community needs, giving families who have unexpectedly experienced the loss of income or jobs critically needed access to nutritional supports. CHP remains available to our patients and the community.
