Access to dental care and family support services is now stronger in Northern Berkshire with CHP’s opening of Adams Family Dental and Family Services at 19 Depot St.
The new dental practice is another step in CHP’s commitment to expanding dental care throughout Berkshire County, particularly for patients who rely on MassHealth for dental coverage. The new practice will employ two dentists, one dental hygienist, four dental assistants, and other office support staff.
Once fully staffed, the practice will have the capacity for about 700 patients.
“Adams Family Dental is a major step forward for our dental expansion commitment in the Berkshires,” said Nicole Wilkinson, CHP director of dental operations. “We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve the Adams community, because oral health is directly related to overall health and wellness.”
CHP’s CEO, Bethany Kieley, said, “With these important new services in Adams, CHP’s dental care and support services are more accessible to our more remote residents in Northern Berkshire. In the month we’ve been open so far, we have already made a difference for hundreds of families and individuals.”
The Family Services hosts a bi-monthly “Food for All” free food distribution for area residents, on the first and third Tuesdays from 1-2:30 p.m. In late June, the office will add a Mobile Farm Market on Fridays, where customers can “pay as they can” with tiered payment options. The office provides diapers, children’s books, kids and adult clothing exchange and other assistance to area families. Families and individuals can walk in or make an appointment.
“When we first offered our Food for All distribution, we had 70 families arrive for a bag of food, and that large turnout underscored how important food support is to the Adams community,” said Mary Feuer, CHP director of Family Services.
The construction and renovation project at 19 Depot St. was funded by generous local grants and federal funding. About half of the funding came from a federal Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) grant; remaining funds included grants and donations from NBT Bank, Agnes Lindsey Trust, Barrett Family Foundation, Feigenbaum Foundation and Delta Dental of Massachusetts.
Kieley concluded: “We are extremely grateful to our funders and grant partners, and to the town of Adams, for helping to usher this project across the finish line. We look forward to welcoming new dental patients and Family Services clients to our new facility.”
