CHP CEO Lia Spiliotes was a guest on WGBY’s Connecting Point news talk program this week, where she spoke about the impact of Covid-19 on Community Health Programs. Lia told host Carrie Saldo that CHP staff are part of the less-visible front line medical professionals who are handling routine patient care while also screening for Covid-19 testing.

Some patients have been reluctant to reach out for medical care if they think they may need to go to a medical facility or hospital, due to concerns over being exposed to Covid-19, but that is changing at CHP, she told Saldo.

CHP’s patient visits dropped dramatically with the onset of Covid-19, but numbers are now moving back up, said Lia. Patients are becoming more comfortable with CHP’s telehealth process and other appointment options intended to reduce the risk of virus transmission for staff and patients.
