Community Health Programs Great Barrington Health Center has been recognized by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) for excellence in the primary care patient experience, based on patient surveys.

The MHQP Patient Experience Awards is a new program introduced this year by MHQP, a non-profit measurement and reporting organization that brings together Clinicians, health plans, and patients to improve the quality of patient care experiences in Massachusetts. MHQP conducts the only statewide survey of patient experience in primary care in Massachusetts, with feedback from over 65,000 commercially-insured patients across the state.

Awards were given to the practices that ranked highest in each of eleven performance categories, as well as an overall performance category determined by the practices with the best-in-class results across multiple categories.

CHP Great Barrington Health Center received recognition for distinction in Empowering Patient Self Care.

Practice Manager Torey Winn had this to say about CHP Great Barrington Health Center: “I believe listening to our patients has been key to our success. Understanding patients and meeting them where they are is important, and it’s important for us to stay connected, to the extent possible. Whether it’s a receptionist, medical assistant or nurse returning a call just to say, ‘I don’t have an answer yet, but I want you to know I’m looking into this,’ or providing resources for patients and their families so they can access additional support or wrap-around care services. This allows patients to know we care about them, and they, in turn care about themselves. “

“CHP approaches primary care as a partnership between patient and doctor, or patient and nurse practitioner,” said Lia Spiliotes, CHP’s chief executive officer. “This award affirms that our patients are motivated members of their health care team at CHP Great Barrington Health Center.”

“Primary care is the heart of healthcare in Massachusetts,” said Barbra Rabson, MHQP’s president and CEO. “The practices recognized with these awards have distinguished themselves where it matters most – in the experiences of their own patients.”
