CHP Names Chief Communications Officer

Community Health Programs (CHP) has named Elizabeth “Betsy” Strickler as chief communications officer for the CHP countywide health and medical network. She will lead strategic marketing, communication and fundraising initiatives for the organization.

Strickler has worked for Berkshire region nonprofit and for-profit organizations, focusing on strategic planning and marketing, brand management, and external relations.

“Betsy is a great addition to the Community Health Programs’ organization as we expand our marketing, outreach and fundraising initiatives throughout the Berkshires,” said CHP’s CEO, Lia Spiliotes. “As we continue to strengthen CHP’s unique brand of health care throughout the Berkshires, Betsy brings the tools to make it happen.”

Most recently the director of external relations for Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, she previously worked as director of admission at Darrow School. She was director of sales and marketing at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort, and worked as an account executive at Winstanley Partners, a Lenox-based advertising agency.

She also worked in the education sector at Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, Northfield Mount Hermon, and the University of New England, in Biddeford, Maine.

A graduate of Hood College in Frederick, Md., where she earned her B.A. in political science, Strickler is also a graduate of the Berkshire Leadership Program.

She serves on the board of 1Berkshire and on the steering committee for the Berkshire Initiative for Growth. She is past chair of the Berkshire Visitors Bureau and a past steering committee member of the Berkshire Leadership Program and Girl Scouts of Western Massachusetts.

A native of Lancaster, Penn., she lives in Lee with her family.

Community Health Programs, based in Great Barrington, Mass., is federally qualified health center practice network serving more than 30,000 Berkshire County region residents with primary health care for adults and children, women’s health care, dental care, physical therapy, vision care and nutrition services. CHP Family Services reaches parents and children in Southern Berkshire County with parent-child networking, parenting education, WIC services and nutrition classes. CHP accepts all patients, regardless of ability to pay, and accepts all forms of public and private health insurance.
